01 · Is TruMove the carrier or a broker?
Broker or carrier, stated plainly
TruMove operates as a licensed moving broker. We do not tell you a truck is ours and then hand the job to someone else. The carrier that will load your home is named before you commit, along with the DOT number you can look up yourself.
The reason we work this way is coverage. A single fleet has to fit your move into the lanes it already runs. A vetted carrier network lets us match your route, your dates, and your shipment size to a mover that actually wants that job, which is where most long distance delays come from.
02 · How do you know the carrier is safe?
Every carrier checked against federal records
Before a carrier can quote your move, we check active operating authority and insurance on file against federal DOT records, plus safety and complaint history. Carriers that fail do not get to bid.
We publish the same lookup we use so you never have to take our word for it. Run any DOT number, including ours, through our carrier check tool and read the record yourself.
03 · Why do long distance quotes change on move day?
The estimate comes from an inventory, not a guess
Almost every surprise bill on a long distance move traces back to the same thing: the estimate was built from a short phone call, then the real volume showed up on the truck. Interstate moves price on weight and space, so an inventory that is off by a few hundred cubic feet is a bill that is off by hundreds of dollars.
So we build the inventory first. Scan rooms with your phone, dictate items out loud, or add them room by room, and it all lands in one move inventory that the estimate is written from. When something changes before the move, the inventory changes and the number changes with it, in writing.
04 · Who do I actually talk to?
One coordinator, reachable by phone
You get a coordinator who stays with the move from the first quote through delivery, and a real number that reaches a person during business hours. Nothing about our AI tools is there to keep you away from a human. They exist so the person you speak with already has your inventory, your dates, and your carrier in front of them.
If something goes wrong in transit, you call the same team that booked you. You are not restarting the story with a queue.
05 · How do I verify the claims on this page?
Published research instead of review counts
We do not lead with award badges. We publish the underlying moving data with sources named, including interstate migration counts from Census B07003 and state level cost and price pressure indexes, and we keep the source registry visible on every research page.
If a claim on this site cannot be traced to a record you can open, treat it as marketing. That standard applies to us too.
